Jerry started his musical career by touring across the United States with Eddie and the Slovenes and by performing part time with America’s Polka King, Frank Yankovic. Other artists whom Jerry performed alongside with include Bobby Vinton, Joey Miskulin (multi-Grammy Award winner and member of Riders in the Sky), Canada’s Polka King, Walter Ostanek, Myron Floren (from the Lawrence Welk Show), and many other artists. From all this experience, Jerry can certainly entertain audiences of all ages!
Noted around the world for keeping the polka tradition alive, Jerry never forgets his roots from Western Pennsylvania. With songs like the Pennsylvania Polka, Pennsylvania Hills, and the Coal Miner’s Polka in his repertoire, Jerry always makes sure his audience knows the love he has for his “neck of the woods.”
Jerry uses some of the most talented and respected musicians in Pennsylvania. His band members include drummer and grandson Ben Sakmar, and banjo/guitarist Tony Zupanchick. Together these musicians boast over 100 years of music performing experience! This experience showed in 1993 when the Jerry Intihar Band was given the award of “Simply the Best Entertainer” by the Tribune-Democrat, newspaper from Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
